Jongert yachts often have custom hydraulic steering and a propeller-driven Segatron autopilots

We learned how this system works when we owned Ocean Wolf. The Segatron autopilot was already installed when the yacht was built. In 2019, we upgraded it together with Segatron. We connected it to the NMEA 2000 network and added a new handheld navigation control.

This page gives a simple overview of the system. It shows the main components, where they are on the yacht, and how they connect to the NMEA 2000 network.

It starts with the hydraulic steering machine that is installed in the master cabin:

The engine room hosts:

And finally in the doghouse we find:

To switch it on originally (and up to this day we have it functional and can always default to this if / when needed):

Set your course in the Sestrel ===>   Turn the knob in your control box to Aux Magnet.

Fine tune steering options in the control box if they were not set already and the magic should start happening.

Upgrade project

In 2019 we integrated the Segatron into our B&G NMEA 2000 network to get wind information and to get more modern / accurate heading information. We also added a new handheld navigation cursor. Segatron custom built for us the enhancements requested.
